Teresa Reese, President
Carol Britton-Grant (Regional Gov)
Rachelle Cohen, Immediate Past President
Jim sent the quarter financial reports in separate email. Ending Balances in Business Savings account $3,705.82, Business Checking account $9,669.18, Business Money Market $10,128 for total of $23,503.
Ethics Meeting: Held on 3/19/19 at Vernon Downs in conjunction with Insurance Professionals of Mohawk Valley (IPMV). Ryan Moore of Moore Agency was our guest speaker. Well attended with 13 CPCU’s and 19 guests.
Spring Event: Travis & Allison presented options for a networking social at Cavallo’s deck on May 23 or One Genny on May 16th. One Genny would be slightly higher pricing. Group decided on Cavallo’s and Travis will call them to see if they can give us a designated area with tables for food.
I Day: Cindy is meeting with Utica College’s Don Reese, Jim Lombardo and CPCU Cheryl DeAngelo on Thursday May 18th. Suggestions made to send Save the Date (October 9th is I Day) as soon as possible and also hand out postcards or book marks at our Spring Social event. We need a theme and speakers for I Day. Carol mentioned that it is National’s 75th anniversary so maybe we can tie that into our event.
Project Invest : Cindy advised that Utica National has hosted about 4-5 students who have job shadowed in several departments this year. Another student is due in May 3rd to shadow with Claims Fraud unit (SIU).
Circle of Excellence: Teresa announced we received Gold Circle of Excellence.
Social Media: Travis suggested that we offer job postings on our Chapter website. Some legal and logistical maintenance concerns were elevated and Travis will look into this further. Also Travis set up LinkedIn for our Chapter but it isn’t public so he has to invite members. He’ll try to figure out how to change this.
Jamie Keller has resigned as our Secretary. The volunteers to take the position are Jeannie Cook and Cindy Fiorilli.
Recap of Leadership Summit: Teresa & Heather attended this and felt they learned a great deal. They want to send a survey to members to ask how they want to be contacted (text, email, etc). Younger people tend to prefer texts. There were ideas on co-hosting events with other organizations (Young Insurance Professionals), Lunch & Learn, Good Works Committees, Sponsorship for I Day in varying amounts for companies versus agencies. Carol suggested using our Circle of Excellence to plan our chapter’s year. We have tried to do this and our plan is impacted by the number of volunteers we’ve had.
Any ideas, questions, comments or concerns, please let us know.
